Kelvin Santos is an attorney with Andrade, Barbosa & Santos, LLC whose practice focuses primarily on immigration and family law matters, including removal defense, asylum cases, USCIS petitions and applications, divorces, and child custody disputes. Attorney Santos is admitted to practice in the State of Rhode Island, before the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), allowing him to represent immigration clients nationwide.
Born in the Cape Verde Islands, Attorney Santos was raised in Boston before relocating to Rhode Island in 2001. His personal background and multilingual abilities give him a unique understanding of the challenges many immigrant and working-class families face when navigating the legal system.
Attorney Santos earned his undergraduate degree from Salve Regina University, where he studied Administration of Justice with a concentration in Juvenile Justice. Prior to attending law school, he spent years working extensively in social services and behavioral health. He worked with Boys Town New England in several roles, including direct care, visitation services, and in-home family support, with the majority of his work focused on the Family Home Program as an in-home family services consultant. He also worked as an ABA therapist providing in-home behavioral therapy services for children with autism. These experiences continue to shape his practical, client-centered approach to advocacy and problem solving.
Attorney Santos received his Juris Doctor from Roger Williams University School of Law as a member of the Honors Program and served as Student Bar Association President during the 2019–2020 academic year. During law school, he was also an active member of the Black Law Students Association.
Since entering practice in 2021, Attorney Santos has focused heavily on immigration law, representing clients in removal proceedings, asylum matters, family-based petitions, adjustment of status applications, and other complex immigration cases before both USCIS and the Immigration Courts. He also represents clients in Rhode Island Family Court in divorce and custody matters, where he is passionate about helping families navigate emotionally difficult situations with clarity, compassion, and strong advocacy.
Attorney Santos is fluent in English, Spanish, and Cape Verdean Creole, allowing him to effectively communicate with and serve clients from diverse backgrounds.
Outside of his legal practice, Attorney Santos enjoys card magic, penmanship, and calligraphy.
